Lasik Eye Surgery - Costa Rica
The Lasik Eye Surgery is also known as refractive laser eye surgery. Is a corretive process for or correcting myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism. Patients wearing soft contact lenses are usually instructed to stop wearing them approximately 5 to 21 days before surgery. It also detects astigmatism and other irregularities in the shape of the cornea.
Lasik Eye Surgery is performed in three steps. The first step is to create a flap of corneal tissue. The second step is remodeling of the cornea underneath the flap with the laser. Finally, the flap is repositioned. The operation is usually performed with the patient awake and mobile; however, sometimes a mild sedative is used with anesthetic eye drops.
The procedure continues with a corneal suction ring applied to the eye, trying to hold it in place. This step in the procedure can sometimes cause small blood vessels with a little of pain for the pacient. Increased suction typically causes a transient dimming of vision in the treated eye. Once the eye is immobilized, the flap is created. After the operation the pacients must follow a special treatment with the application of antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops.
Actually it´s considered one of the most secure and effective procedures for eye surgery. If the patient follow the treatment after the surgery, the recovering will be very fast and without pain.
