Weight loss, in medical terms, is a reduction of the total body weight, by reduction of body fat or adipose tissue and/or lean mass, namely bone mineral deposits, muscle, tendon and other connective tissue. Different are the causes of weight loss but i commonly happen because aesthetic ideal, obesity problems of different kind of dissease like diabetes or cholestherol problems. In present time, this kind of problems are very common among people. The way of life, the lack of phisical activity or excersice and the way how food is prepared are the common causes of weight problems. The metabolisism changes are very strong so generally the weight lost in a crash diet returns when normal eating resumes.

There is a substantial market for products which promise to make weight loss easier, quicker, cheaper, more reliable, or less painful. Those kind of products are sold as magic solution for people with a strong desire of losing weight. Books, CDs, lotions, pills, and other materials are among these magic products. Fitness centers, personal coaches and food products are in these group also. Some of them are considered very dangerous, so people must be careful with these items.
Unintentional weight loss
This is produced by a poor management of deseases like diabetes. This kind of dissorder leads to an excessive amount of glucose and an insufficient amount of insulin in the bloodstream. This triggers the release of triglycerides from adipose (fat) tissue and catabolism (breakdown) of amino acids in muscle tissue. This results in a loss of both fat and lean mass, leading to a significant reduction in total body weight. Note that untreated type 1 diabetes mellitus will usually not produce weight loss, as these patients get acutely ill before they would have had time to lose weight.
